This Habitude is all about being proactive, persistence, and passionate (nice alliteration huh?).  The story goes a man was given the task of finding a gorilla to put in a TV commercial.  Not a big deal right?  Well they were in Hawaii.  Lots of dead ends.  After weeks and weeks, the guy was finally able to find a gorilla, helicopter it in, and get the job done.

As a leaders, the 3 P’s mentioned above are non-negotiables.  You MUST have them to be successful, not only in business, but in life in general.  With The Oak House, I have a cause I am willing to give myself up for.

In 2 Timothy 4:5-8, Paul gives encouragement to a young man named Timothy.  Timothy was able to keep the proper attitude and perspective about his task because he possessed the 3 P’s.

However, it isn’t always easy to maintain the proper attitude.  In my life, I find it hard to maintain the proper attitude when it comes to prolonged trials.  If I can get through something in about 30 days, I’m usually good.  If it drags on much longer than a month, I start to get wore down.  Perseverance is a tough one for me.

Building out The Oak House has been a very tough challenge for me.  It has been a huge undertaking.  We jumped in feet first and started getting stuff done.  Even though I wasn’t supposed to carry the burden of the build out, I knew it was the right move so I took over that aspect.  I knew it was more advanced than the knowledge I had, but I also knew I am a quick study.  We are finally settling in to a rhythm and the cadence is getting set.

I am currently facing a few giant gorillas in this process.  We are working through them however.  Once we get some much-needed pieces of information back from the engineer, we will have a firm course of action and finally be ready to move forward.

As I work through my next book for the year (#18 unless I finish another one beforehand), I will be journaling my answers to the book “Habitudes: Images that form leadership habits & attitudes”.  This particular book is the 3rd in the series.  You can read the other posts in this series here.
