I took the entire month of December off from writing. Mostly because I had finished my reading list and I wasn’t in full-on learning mode. I was just coasting along waiting for 2018 to get here. Now that we are sitting firmly in Jan 1, it is time to get back at it.
This year, I have a focus on some very specific aspects of my life. I want to be as close to out of debt by Jan 2019 as I can be. 12 full months to get stuff paid off which means a seriousness on budget, frugalness, and finding ways to be a better steward of my finances. I have talked about doing this in the past but 2018 is the year I get serious about it.
I am also focusing more on wisdom. Not knowledge. What is the difference? Well”
Knowledge is the accumulation of facts and data that you have learned about or experienced. It’s being aware of something, and having information. Knowledge is really about facts and ideas that we acquire through study, research, investigation, observation, or experience.
Wisdom is the ability to discern and judge which aspects of that knowledge are true, right, lasting, and applicable to your life. It’s the ability to apply that knowledge to the greater scheme of life. It’s also deeper; knowing the meaning or reason; about knowing why something is, and what it means to your life.
So 2018 will be a year focusing on wisdom over knowledge.
It will also be a year of me speaking my truths. I shied away from speaking my 100% truth because it is such a radical shift away from what people know and feel comfortable with. I received a peach in my soul a few nights ago which freed me to be able to say what I will need to say in 2018. I realized I needed to be living for the applause of nail-scarred hands. If you don’t know what that means, it means as a Christian, I am supposed to do and say the things I feel like God is telling me to say and do, even if I don’t understand it or it offends people. But in doing so, I promise to never unleash an arrow of criticism that hasn’t been pulled from the quiver of The Gospel. I will do my best to make sure everything I say is coming from a place of love and has the purpose of building someone up or making them better.
I will also be deciding to NOT do some things in 2018. For instance, I will NOT be eating breakfast in the mornings. I will be doing 365 days of intermittent fasting as part of my continued fitness journey. I will also NOT be taking meetings on certain days. I will also NOT be taking meetings during certain parts of the day. My time is important and I have to set up systems now which will protect my time when life gets busy.
I find it a little amusing that people will undoubtedly not understand why I am doing the things I am doing. That’s ok though. They don’t have to understand it and the one’s who are important will seek to understand the why and have me flesh it out for them. It works like that.
I look forward to seeing you more in 2018 as I get back to writing. If you aren’t following me on social, I can be found on all my channels by visiting this link:
