I already told you about my 60 minute routine I do every morning; SAVERS. Starting today, I am going to break down each step over the next 6 days and tell you a little bit about WHY I do each step and what, specifically, I do during each part. Today is Silence.
My days get pretty hectic. Starting something new is full of unknowns and you try your best to see around every corner. My mind is ALWAYS working. I play a constant game of chess in my head with dozens of opponents at the same time. So I give myself 10 minutes of total silence every morning. I don’t think about anything. I’m not praying. I’m not meditating. I’m not listening to anything. I literally sit on the couch and just be quiet. This is one of the reasons why I get up at 5. Not many other people are up so early. No noises. No hustle and bustle. Just silence. Well, except for my tinnitus. 🙂
I know it sounds weird to get up early and just sit there completely silent for 10 minutes. I know you are probably thinking, “That’s stupid. Why wouldn’t you use that time to do something else?” Here is my reason. I am a grumpy old fart when I first wake up. I don’t want to hear anyone when I first get up; not even myself. So sitting in complete silence is PERFECT for me. It may not be your cup of tea and that’s ok. It is just what works for me.
